Apple is reportedly planning an October 27 launch event that could bring the company’s first touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro models, alongside an OLED iPad mini and updated machines powered by a new M6 chip.

The claims come from industry reporting and have not been confirmed by Apple. The company has not announced an October 27 event, and none of the products described should be treated as official until Apple says otherwise.

According to the reports, the redesigned MacBook Pro models would be thinner and lighter than the current generation and would adopt a Dynamic Island-style cutout, a feature first popularised on the iPhone. A touchscreen OLED display would mark a significant change for the Mac line. Apple executives have for years resisted adding touch input to its laptops, arguing that the trackpad and mouse remain the better tools for a computer. Rival makers, by contrast, have sold touchscreen Windows laptops for more than a decade.

The same reporting points to a 14-inch MacBook Pro and a refreshed iMac built around an M6 processor. Apple’s own silicon has been the engine of its Mac revival since 2020, delivering gains in performance and battery life that helped lift sales after a long period of stagnation.

An OLED iPad mini would also fit a broader pattern. Apple has been moving its tablet range toward OLED screens, which offer deeper blacks and better contrast than the LCD panels used in smaller models. A premium display could, however, push the mini’s price higher, and pricing has always been a sensitive point for a device many buyers treat as a second screen.

Leaks and supply-chain reports around Apple launches are frequently partly right and partly wrong, with features shifting late in development. Readers should treat the October 27 date and the product list as unconfirmed.

If the reports prove accurate, the event would set up a busy holiday season for Apple. If they do not, the company is still expected to refresh parts of the Mac range in the coming months.
